What does an international student do for medical insurance in Canada?

Students who go to Canada can get medical insurance in different ways. Some provinces allow eligible international students to join the Medicare National Health Insurance program, enabling them to receive the same medical care as the local population. Some provinces do not provide Medicare public health insurance to foreign students, and international students are required to buy either their school medical insurance or buy commercial medical insurance.
